The Pentagon assessed the risks of Belarus participation in the war against Ukraine
There are no signs of Belarus preparing for an attack on Ukraine yet.
This was announced at a briefing on May 5 by US Department of Defense spokesman John Kirby.
“There are no signs that Belarus has intentions … to take an active part in the war against Ukraine, and I will allow it to be called (transfer of troops – ed.) training. But we are not monitoring signs that they plan or intend to take a direct part in war,” Kirby said.
On May 4, a sudden check of the Armed Forces of Belarus began. The troops of the republic continue to cover sections of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border in the Brest and Gomel regions.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, in order to check the readiness to carry out assignments as intended, one missile division from the 465th missile brigade is moving from the point of permanent deployment to the destination area.
At the same time, Belarus argues that the relevant measures are educational in nature and do not pose a threat either to the European community as a whole or to neighboring countries in particular.
British intelligence suggested that Russia was most likely trying to fan the threat. Information stuffing of the invaders is aimed at stretching the Ukrainian forces in the north, preventing them from participating in the battle for Donbass.
