best 5 Star Le Meridien

The 5 Star Le Meridien

Le Meridien St Julians Hotel and Spa is one of the nicest 5 star Malta hotels you can find in Balluta Bay. I have been there a few times and I want to reveal a few things about this beautiful hotel. I’ll try to make this article as objective and informative as possible, though.
First of all, the location is very nice. Fairly close to the island’s capital , Valletta, Balluta Bay is a beautiful place, with romantic restaurants above the water, beautiful gardens (the Independence Gardens), nice scenery and a long promenade that lets you explore almost the entire bay on foot.
This luxury 5 star Malta hotel has almost every facility a visitor could desire:
o Charge your energies at the ultra modern Lotus Fitness center, found on level 2 of the complex, where you can choose programs like personal training or fun aerobics classes.
o Relax and unwind at the luxury spa, the Lotus Spa Myoka. “Myoka” means “mysterious flower” in Japanese, and a “Myoka Spa” is founded on the belief that our beauty is like a flower that needs to be discovered.
o On the 9th floor you can find the executive lounge, which is only available for people who book an Executive Room or Suite. Daily newspapers, free drinks, free internet connection, and free private breakfasts are only a few of the features.
o If you are in Balluta Bay on business, you can use le Meridien St Julians’ business center to hold conferences, business meetings and do whatever you need to do.
o The Penguin Club is where you can take your kids and watch them have fun all day long. It’s on the ground floor, and it’s for kids between 2 and 12 years old. You can even organize parties for your kids at the Penguin Club.
o There are two swimming pools: the Lotus Indoor pool and the “La Bajja” Outdoor pool.
o Two parkings: underground and outdoor. It’s free to park in any one of them if you are a guest at the hotel. I had no parking problems whatsoever during my stay.
o Play Golf.. Le Meridien St Julians Hotel and Spa is partnered with The Royal Malta Golf Club – need I say more?
Food and drinks – there are 3 places you can go: there is a restaurant on the roof (La BajjaRestaurant), the KuDeTa Lounge Bar (the smoking area is perfectly separated from the main no-smoking zone) and last but not least, the main restaurant of the hotel, the Scirocco Restaurant.
So if you are going to Balluta Bay in Malta, try the best luxury hotel: Le Meridien St Julians Hotel and Spa.

Yacht Charter in Italy – Enjoy World-Famous Lifestyle on Your Boat Rental

Yacht Charter in Italy – Enjoy World-Famous Lifestyle on Your Boat Rental
Yacht Charter in Italy – Enjoy World-Famous Lifestyle on Your Boat Rental

Italy´s beauty is legendary and one town is more attractive than the other. The country has an immensely rich culture and history, gorgeous cuisine and the all-famous lifestyle and chique. For the yacht charter guest it offers vast and varied sailing grounds as well as pretty ports. This combined with all the impressive sights, stunning nature and the Italian `dolce vita` makes for the perfect sailing holiday.

Why is yacht rental in Italy so popular?

Italy and its islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea are located right in the centre of the Mediterranean. A boat rental in Italy is a great opportunity to explore the amazing Italian culture and the multitude of beautiful towns. With 51, there are more UNESCO world heritage sites in Italy than in any other country in the world. And on top of that you get to enjoy fantastic food and great shopping.

The coastline, especially the Italian Riviera in the West, offers many beaches and bays perfectly suited for anchoring. Italy´s islands are mainly located off the west coast of the mainland and they all possess their own individual character. A favourable climate and almost no tides provide for good sailing conditions and there are many interesting possibilities for different sailing itineraries. Italy has a large tradition of boat building and sailing, so sailors benefit from a high frequency of ports. The infrastructure in the northern charter regions and southwards until Rome is very good.

The main airports are Venice, Genoa, Pisa, Rome, Naples, Olbia, Alghero, Cagliari, Reggio Calabria, Palermo, Trapani and Catania.

Here is some general information about yacht charter in Italy:

Location: Central Mediterranean Sea

Total length of coastline: 7,600 km

Capital: Rome

Main charter bases: Genoa, La Spezia, Piombino, Follonica, Castiglione della Pescaia, Salerno, Sorrento, Tropea, Reggio Calabria. Sardinia: Cagliari, Carloforte, Olbia, Alghero. Sicily: Trapani, Palermo, Portarosa.

Population: ca. 60,675,000

Climate: Mild, Mediterranean

Country code: +39

Charter season: May to October

What are the best charter areas in Italy?

The main charter regions for sailing in Italy are concentrated on the west coast of the mainland, i.e. Liguria, Tuscany, Elba, Bay of Naples, Capri, Sardinia, and Sicily. The Adriatic Coast on the east side is not quite as attractive for boating. Possible charter bases there are Polignano a Mare near Bari, the area around the national park of Gargano and the Venetian Lagoon where you can cruise directly past the world famous Old Town and its stunning buildings.

In the capital of Liguria, Genoa, you encounter the Porto Antico containing the largest aquarium in Europe and many other sights. From there it is only a short walk into the Old Town. After about 14 NM you reach the stunning harbour town Portofino in its protected bay. From here it is about 30 NM to La Spezia and on the way you will pass by one of the quaintest tourist destinations of Italy, a cluster of five picturesque and colourful coastal towns set in a national park called Cinque Terre. La Spezia forms part of the national park and is the second largest city of Liguria. It is conveniently located in a deep gulf surrounded by high hills.

A little further to the South lies the Tuscan Archipelago containing the islands of Gorgona, Capraia, Pianosa, Montechristo, Giglio, Gianutri and the largest and best known – Elba. There are very good charter bases on the Tuscan mainland to go and explore these islands, or maybe even Corsica. They are Viareggio, Piombino, Follonica and Castiglione della Pescaia / Punta Ala. In Elba the main town and port is Portoferraio on the north coast, which is well worth a visit. The island also offers lovely big bays and great anchorages. On the very southern Tuscan tip is Puerto San Stefano – a seaside town on a peninsula with a yacht harbour and a massive fortress.

Sardinia offers a great mix of exclusive cruising grounds and ports like the Costa Smeralda and Porto Cervo as well as unspoilt sailing territories like the famous Maddalena archipelago. There are very good ports like Cagliari, Cannigione, La Maddalena, Olbia, Palau and Portisco. Savour the stunning and varied landscape like the pink beach of Spiaggia Rosa and the fjord-like Gulf of Cannigione.

The Bay of Naples and its islands, the Amalfi Coast and the archipelago of the Pontine Islands offer further brilliant options for yacht charter itineraries. The Amalfi Coast is situated between the charter bases Sorrento and Salerno. It is a 50 km stretch of coastline with very picturesque towns sitting on steep rocky cliffs. The towns of Amalfi and Positano are just two examples.

From the mainland you can head to the islands in the Gulf of Naples. Exclusive Capri is where the international jet set meets. The main town and port with its high-end boutiques and first-class restaurants is situated on the north side. It is very busy and expensive, though. You find good anchorage on the south side in Marina Piccola. There are no sandy beaches on Capri, its coastline is rather craggy and picturesque. The water is deep, so there are not too many safe anchorages.

Then there is quaint, colourful Procida with many beautiful bays and beaches and the natural reserve of Vivara Island, which is attached to Procida via a bridge.

You can cruise to popular, busy Ischia, which is the largest island in the Gulf of Naples. It is an extinct volcano with rich landscape, hot thermal springs, great bays and secluded beaches. The three main ports are Ischia port, Casamicciola and Forio. The South of the island is greener and wilder with beautiful coastline and the north is more populated.

Finally head over to the Pontine Islands. From Ischia to uninhabited and unspoilt Santo Stefano it is about 22 NM. There you are only allowed to anchor in the North of the island. Visit the neighbour island Ventotene and then cross the next 22 NM to the north-western Pontine Islands, Gavi, Palmarola, Zannone and charming Ponza with its many caves and grottos. There you will find nicely protected anchorages and an interesting rugged coastline.

Hugely popular for yacht charter holidays is Sicily, off course. Choose from main charter bases like Marsala or Portorosa in the North, from where you can also explore the Aeolian Islands Lipari, Stromboli, Vulcano, Alicudi, Filicudi, Panarea and Salina. Other possible ports for your Italian bareboat charter are Messina, Taormina, Catania and Syracuse on the east coast. Reggio Calabria on the mainland is also a very good starting point for sailboat charter in Sicily.

Which weather systems are important for your bareboat charter in Italy?

In Italian waters there aren´t any significant tides. The prevailing winds in summer are northwesterlies. Afternoon sea breezes are generally moderating the heat. Long, dry and hot summers make for the perfect sailing weather.

Explore Cinque Terre, five stunning villages perched on the steep hills by the seaside surrounded by wonderful nature. Manarola for example is a very pretty, colourful town.

In-between charter trips, check out Pompeii near Naples. It was destroyed by the Vesuvius in 79 AD and now constitutes a `city frozen in time`.

Visit the town of Amalfi and its cathedral, old dockyards and paper mill, amongst others.

Drop anchor in Capri and visit the Blue Grotto – the big cave is filled with spectacular blue light from below.

Ayurveda Almond Beauty Treatments

Ayurveda Almond Beauty Treatments
Ayurveda Almond Beauty Treatments

The world is gradually waking up to the invincible Indian text that is Ayurveda. Translating into modern language as the ‘science of longevity’, Ayurveda is being relied upon by leading cosmetic companies in the world in their efforts to go natural.

Balance of Ayurveda: Vata, Pitta and Kapha

According to Ayurveda, all the activities of mind and body are governed by three psycho-physiological energies known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha. When these three elements are in perfect balance within us, we enjoy good health. If any of these energies within us is out of balance, disorders result.

Each of these principles is also associated with a season. Winter is the season when Vata becomes off balance within most people. Because the winter months are dryer, rougher and cooler than summer, spring and fall, Vata often manifests itself in hair breakage, chapped lips and dry skin.

Ayurveda has a vast range of treatments. The good thing about natural beauty care is that the treatments and recipes have both an aesthetic role and a medicinal purpose.

Almonds & Ayurveda

If a mango is considered the king of fruits, almonds definitely lead the pack amongst dry fruits. Almonds are some of the oldest and most common nuts in the world. Almond falls into ayurveda treat by either eating them directly, or using the oil extracted from the nut in body pastes and fase masks. Almonds are also very valuable in ayurveda for their ability to balance the mositure levels of the skin, or the Vata.

Skin & Hair

Almonds are good for your heart because they have plety of plant steorls, healthy fats, fiber and Vitamin E. In addition to helping internal heart health, almonds also have the power to remedy a range of skin problems, no matter your age. The nutrients found in almond oil help banish wrinkles, ease acne outbreaks, and create an overall glowing complexion.

In addition to hair, almond oil massages have wonderful benefits for hair problems. The oil and its nutrients combat hair loss and dandruff, and some even believe it helps you retain your hair color longer.

Sweet almond oil is the best massage oil for those with a Vata imbalance. Almond oil helps balance the Vata (what western medicine might call a pH balance in the skin). It does this by seeping down into the different layres of skin and releasing its moisturizing properties. Would-be brides are always recommended to incorporate almonds into their pre-matrimonial beauty regime.

Skin Diseases & Scars: Almond Powder, Milk and Paste

According to Ayurveda texts concerning treatments of skin diseases, almonds are effective in treating diseases like eczema and psoriasis. A few leaves of the wild almond plant powdered with water applied to affected parts helps cure many skin disease symptoms. In addition, almond milk can act as an astringent. Applied to the face after washing, the mild removes excess residue and impurities left behind, leaving your skin glowing and with a better tone.

Creating a paste of five almonds soaked overnight and mixed with a teaspoon of rose water applied on the skin regularly will make your skin appear noticeably younger and even help smoothen out wrinkles. Ayurveda also prescribes using almond powder for scars from cuts and acne as well as deep chicken pox scars. To get rid of scars, powder some almonds and mix them with milk cream, turmeric and sugar to make a paste. Use this paste regularly for at least two months.

Almonds & Bridal Beauty

Many beauty tips on various Indian matrimonial sites suggest tricks with almonds to beautify a bride’s appearance. Since almond treatments are natural and do not leave any side effects, they are very popular for brides everywhere in India, whether they have a traditional Hindu matrimony, or are a part of another religion.

Four of the most common bridal beauty treatments with almonds are:

1. To get rid of blemishes and make the skin softer, mix almond oil with lemon juice and honey. Blend it into a face mask and use it once a week.

2. Mix a couple drops of almond oil with your regular moisturizer to apply all over your body right after a shower. This to keeps flakiness at bay, and eases inflammation and rashes. Almond oil is compatible with all skin types, so you don’t have to worry if you have sensitive skin.

3. Indians are obsessed with the idea of Rapunzel-like long hair. Almond oil is great for hair because it moisturizes without leaving behind a greasy feeling. When the oil sits on the scalp, it smooths the cuticles and follicles, while adding shine to the lower shaft of the hair. To get the Rapunzel-like hair, apply almond oil to make it stronger so it can grow as long as possible without breakage.

4. To deal with chronic back acne and pimples, take 5 or 6 unpeeled almonds and soak them in water. Once they are soaked through, pound them into a paste with marigold petals. Work the paste into the skin of your back and let it sit for at least 5 minutes. Rinse the paste off with water. For best results, repeat two times a week for three months.

From the amazing scenery, year-round availability, the great lodging options, restaurants, and the huge practice center and putting course, Bandon Dunes is a complete experience for a golfing vacation that will not be soon forgotten or easily topped. After spending a week in the area – on and off the course – there are three things that clearly stood out which made Bandon Dunes Golf the golfer’s dream.

The Golf

Bandon Dunes comes complete with five complete courses, all of which combine the natural beauty of the Oregon coastline and rugged hills in order to make for rounds that are a truly enjoyable experience. Beyond the game itself, which can range from the easier, to the most challenging style of play, one of the greatest difficulties is keeping your eye on the ball rather than the breathtaking scenery. Ocean vistas, pristine dunes, natural canyons and vegetation add a new level of enjoyment not available in more than a handful of courses around the world.

The Lodging

While staying in Bandon, Oregon, there are a variety of restful and natural places available to stay at. The local establishments are situated for golf groups, providing privacy, luxury and a comfortable atmospheres specifically designed with the golfer in mind. At many of the establishments, the rooms reflect the natural beauty of the Oregon coast and nearby golf courses. Everything there seems perfectly crafted to accent and cap off a day at the Bandon Dunes.

The Town

As a golfer, the Bandon Dunes Resort is the primary draw, but once the 18th hole is settled, and the phenomenal sunset has been observed, you can relax with your friends and a drink around the fire pit at one of the local inns or hotels, or visit the seaside town. Bandon, Oregon is a charming and quaint place located about 90 miles away from Interstate 5. Birding, crabbing, surfing, and other activities are available if you still have strength left after your swing, but there are plenty of evening spots for enjoying dinner, drinks, or even dancing to while away the nighttime hours.

In conclusion, the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is a dream spot because it is in a dream spot! The beautiful town, the wonderful accommodations, and the stunning scenery of the golf courses made me have to stop and pinch myself every so often to be sure it was real.
